The Westwood Heights Schools District, in partnership with the Best Food Forward Program, will host a Holiday Food Giveaway. On December 19th, School staff members and volunteers will distribute 20,000 pounds of food from two locations, Hamady Middle/High School, located at 3223 West Carpenter Rd. Starting at 2 pm, and McMonagle Elementary School located on 3484 North Jennings Rd. beginning at 6:30 pm.
The distribution will occur following our Holiday Band and Drama class Performances. Hamady Middle/High School concert will take place at 1 pm in the school's auditorium and McMonagle Elementary will hold its Holiday Program at 5:30 pm in the Gymnasium. We want to ensure that our students and families will have enough food during the long Christmas holiday break.
Westwood Heights Schools Superintendent Peter Toal, "We are delighted to welcome the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and the Best Food Forward program to our holiday concerts this year. Their generosity is helping to ensure that all of our families will have a safe and happy holiday."
The Westwood Heights Schools announced its new partnership with the Best Food Forward program with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and food giveaway event in October. The Best Food Forward Program aims to connect students with the healthy food they need for success through nutrition education and robust food programs. The Best Food Forward is an opportunity to improve the way students learn, engage, and eat at school. By making healthy food accessible to students and their families, we are improving the way schools and communities work together.
