The Academy West student council members would like to thank the community for their donations towards the StuCo Café.
With your donations, the members of the Student Council were able to purchase over $500 worth of supplies.
Academy West teacher Amanda Zovishlack reached out to the community through the website Donors Choose, and the community responded by fully funding her project. "I am beyond excited to be able to come to school and have custom made coffee. We can provide iced tea and fruit infused water. This donation helps to provide healthier choices." Students were able to receive:
4 espresso and milk steamer machines
6 bottles of sugar-free flavors with pumps
6 milk frothing pitchers
3 Beverage Dispensers with a fruit infusion
3 1 gallon pitchers
1 coffee bean grinder
1 handheld milk frother
1 cocktail shaker set
The Café opened its doors in November of 2019. Their goal is to raise money for student activities by providing an array of goodies such as a warm cup of hot chocolate, coffee, and snacks. The StuCo Café further gives students access to personal and household products if needed.
Ebony Thomas, Student Council Advisor, says
"I am overwhelmed with the support from the community. With only five donors, we were able to meet our goal. That is something that doesn't happen often. There is sense of pride that comes along with belonging to student council. The success of the Café is just icing on the cake. This donation makes it (StuCo) an official café! "
The students at Academy West love StuCo for its peaceful and relaxation area. This area allows students to get away from the stress of class and life.
The café is open Monday - Thursday at 11:30 am during the lunch period. Please take out a few minutes and support the youth. Money raised from the store goes toward their prom. A special thanks to Amanda Zovishlack.
