Academy West Alternative High School was one out of 200 projects nationwide that were
awarded $7500 for an Innovation Lab. Academy West used the funds to purchase equipment to
teach artificial intelligence, augmented reality, blockchain, robotics, virtual reality, and 3-D
printing.

"I realized that our students needed to have positive experiences with technology, says Ms.
Amanda Zovishlack, Academy West Alternative High School Virtual Learning teacher. I want
them to dip their toes into the world of programming and writing code."

With the donation from PWC, a foundation affiliated with the Price Waterhouse Financial
Services firm, I was able to purchase the technology needed to write code and the robots that
would run based on the students' programming.

Zovishlack said, "I am looking forward to the student's responses when they realize they have
brand new DIY robots, computer kits, educational Lego robot kits, and more."
These items are perfect for different styles of learning, both remotely as well as in person. I am
excited to work with the students and cannot wait for the day when they become code writing
teachers.
